He was predeceased by : his parents, Jose of Melo and Maria; and his brother Joseph Mello. He is survived by : his wife Mary Eduarda Mello (Correia) of New Bedford; his children, Lucia Poitras of New Bedford, John "Elvis" Mello, Jr. of New Bedford and Daniel Mello (Kathleen) of Dartmouth; his siblings, Adelino Mello of New Bedford, Maria A. Amaral (Joseph) of Osterville and Angelina Linhares (Frank) of Mashpee; and his grandchildren, John Mello III, Tabitha Millerick, Kaitlyn Medeiros, Adam Poitras, Scott Poitras, Rebecca Simmons, Melissa Mello and Shawn Mello. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
