With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Bernardo of New Bedford, Massachusetts, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 22, 2024 at the age of 93. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Mary Bernardo to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by : her husband Edward Bernardo, Sr.; her parents, John Freitas and Carlotta Freitas (Jesus); and her siblings, Manuel Freitas and Carlotta Paiva.

She is survived by : her children, Edward Bernardo, Jr. (Fatima Rapoza) of New Bedford, Debbie Lawlor (John) of Swansea and Mark Edward Bernardo (Ashley Mitchell) of Canton; her daughter-in-law Donna Bernardo of Dartmouth; her grandson Jay E. Bernardo (Jessica); her great grandchild Logan Varieur; her grandchildren, Bethiny L. Moseley (Dave), Joshua Lawlor, Kelly Baldwin (Andrew), Nicholas Bernardo (Kayla), Kerriann Bernardo, Aimee Bernardo and Zion Bernardo; her sister Alice Rebola of North Kingston, RI.; and also, Cecilia Grace Moseley, Ellie Bea Moseley, Stella Rose Baldwin, Noelle Andrea Baldwin, Huntley Quadros-Bernardo and Wilder Quadros-Bernardo. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 2nd 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Aubertine-Lopes Funeral Home & Cremation (129 Allen St, New Bedford, MA 02740). A funeral service was held on Friday, May 3rd 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church (136 Earle St, New Bedford, MA 02746). A graveside service was held on Friday, May 3rd 2024 at 11:30 AM at the St. John Cemetery (664 Allen St, New Bedford, MA 02740).

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Bernardo's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, a cause she deeply cherished throughout her life.
