We announce the death of Alan D. McCarthy of North Reading, Massachusetts, who passed away on October 7, 2026, at the age of 81. He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert McCarthy and Louise McCarthy; and his siblings, Louise Kumm, Herbert McCarthy, Cynthia Mallet and Patricia Duncan.
He is survived by: his sons, Alan D. McCarthy (Kelly) of Arlington, VA, Sean P. McCarthy (Susan) of Derry, NH and Brian C. McCarthy (Nicole) of Salem, NH.; his granddaughters, Katie and Emma McCarthy; and his sisters, Alice Donnely and Janet Black of Florida.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Douglass, Edgerley & Bessom Funeral Home (25 Sanborn St, Reading, MA 01867). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
