He was predeceased by: his wife Frances Befford (Mallon). He is survived by: his sons, Michael Befford (Jacqueline) of East Brookfield and Daniel Befford of Oakham; and his grandchildren, Mikayla (Tyler Swalec) of Holden, Abby Befford (Léo Germiniani) of Milford, Andrew Befford (Meighan Keller) of Holden, Matthew Befford and Josslyn Befford of Oakham. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
In Lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorial donations to be made in Gene's name to the Sawyer-Mathieu-Kerns American Legion post 41 in North Brookfield.
