He was predeceased by: his mother Daisy Canning (Wild); and his brothers, Gerald and James. He is survived by: his father James Canning of Athol; his sons, Dennis J. Canning Jr. of Athol and Shawn Canning (Samantha) of Texas; his grandchildren, Zachary, Trent, Trevor, Emma Katherine, Madison of Kolton, AJ, Codi and Peyton; his sister Kim Smith (Dan) of Orange; his nephew Kyle Smith (Gabby Richard); his great-niece Rylee Smith; his fiancée Debra "Deb" Kingsbury of Athol; and his cousin Steve Canning of Orange. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
