He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward J. Sr. O'Brien and Margaret T. O'Brien (Rodriguez); his sister Christine Lister; and his siblings-in-law, Larry Carpenter, David Johnson and Donna Doherty.

He is survived by: his wife Heidi O'Brien (Herk) of Orange; his children, Melissa Willis (James) of Pembroke, Craig O'Brien (Mandi) of Laveen, AZ, Matthew O'Brien of Hyannis, Christopher O'Brien of Portland, OR and Meaghan Herk of Winchendon; his grandchildren, Skyla Nardi (Matthew) of Laveen, AZ, Aidan O'Brien of Laveen, AZ, Samuel Willis of Pembroke, Cambri Langston of Winchendon and Amalia Logan of Winchendon; his great grandchild Summer Nardi of Laveen, AZ; his siblings, Margaret Carpenter, Patricia DaCosta (Fred), Karen Durham, Thomas, Pamela Johnson, Elizabeth Sico (Raymond), Kathleen Kellogg (Harvey) and John O'Brien (Diane); his siblings-in-law, James Lister, Randy Herk (Betty), John Doherty, Robin Briand (Phil) and Debbie Schiappa (Mike); and his mother-in-law Sue Herk. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
