She was predeceased by: her parents, Donald Chicoine and Mary Dorsey (Chicoine); and her siblings, Bruce Boutall, Barbara Stowell and Debbie Meunier.

She is survived by: her husband Terry Akey; her sons, Ethan Akey (Kara) and Nathan Akey (Chelsea); her grandchildren, Carson, Allison, Oliver and Tenley; and her siblings, Alan Chicoine, Leo Chicoine (Kate), Gordon Ganson (Linda), Colleen (Dorsey), Jansenns (Barry), Abigail (Ganson), Sargent (Larry Baker), Heather (Ganson) and Cogswell (Bob). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Monique's memory be made to the American Cancer Society.
