He was predeceased by: his wife Judith E. O'Brien (Munroe) of Oxford; and his parents, William V. O'Brien and Irene S. O'Brien Sr. (Schofield). He is survived by: his children, Thomas R. O'Brien of Oxford, Michael J. O'Brien (Carol) of Thompson, CT and Kelly A. O'Brien-Hartnett (Daniel Hartnett) of Oxford; his grandchildren, Brennan M. O'Brien of Thompson, CT and Kiera E. O'Brien of Thompson, CT; his sister Susan McCrohon of Holden; his niece Caryn; and his nephews, Timothy and William McCrohon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Best Buddies Program at Oxford High School.
