He was predeceased by: his parents, Bella Murtagh and Michael J. Murtagh; his wife Patricia "Pat" A. Murtagh (Levesque); and his siblings, Mike, John and Mary Waselchuk.
He is survived by: his son Daniel (Barbara); his grandchildren, Daniel, William Murtagh, Marines and Elizabeth of New Fairfield, CT; his daughter Sharon (Joseph); his grandsons, James, Christopher and David of Wakefield; his son Kevin (Cindy) of Andover; his grandchild Lauren (Aidan); his children, Caroline, Meaghan, Alison and Gary (Jean); his grandchildren, Henry, Liza and Leah of Wilmington, NC.; his partner Claire Sirois Foley of Peabody; his partner's children, Ken, Sue and Ellen; and his close friend Priscilla Jean of Peabody.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Ruggiero Family Memorial (10 Chestnut St, Peabody, MA 01960). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 from 12:15 PM to 1:00 PM at the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery (185 Lake St, Peabody, MA 01960).
In accordance with the family's wishes, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Fred's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the St. John's Prep Alumni Association, 72 Spring Street, Danvers, MA 01923.
