We announce the death of Gene Edward Matthews of Peabody, Massachusetts, born in Lynn, Massachusetts, who passed away on August 24, 2026, at the age of 79. Gene will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Gladys Matthews and Leroy Matthews; and his siblings, Gwenna Bergeron and James Matthews. He is survived by: his children, Stephanie Matthews of Salem and Kevin Matthews (Kathy Laroque Clancy) of Goffstown, NH.; his granddaughter Nicole Matthews of Beverly; his great grandchildren, Emilia of Beverly, His and Isabella Goodwin of Beverly, His; and his siblings, Richard Matthews (Marcia Herman Matthews) of North Carolina and Shelia Baines of Texas.
