He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. J. William Burke and Velma Burke (Mitchell) of Wakefield. He is survived by: his wife Gail M. Burke (Nelson); his children, Christopher Burke (Tracy Vu) of Boxford, Joanne Peterson (Joseph) and Erin Burke; his grandchildren, Daniel Burke of Derry, NH, Michael Burke of Gray, ME and Ayla Burke; and his sisters, Claire Markham, Olive Hecht and Kathleen Hodge (Burke). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Later, he founded several businesses in the medical device field, where he and his partner developed several innovative products, including the SplashShield face mask, which was a breakthrough personal protection device.
