Robert D. Collins Obituary

Robert D. Collins DMD a resident of Peabody for 8 years, formerly of E. Dennis where they lived for 20 years and Reading where they lived for 35 years, passed away at his home at Brooksby Village in Peabody on March 8, 2023. He was 96 years of age.

Robert was born on February 24, 1927 in Brighton, Massachusetts the son of the the late Edmund M. and Mary I. (Henry) Collins. Robert proudly served his country during World War II serving in the US Marine Corps. Robert graduated from Tufts Dental school in 1956 and was a self-employed Dentist in Cambridge and Medford for 40 years. He was also an Assistant Professor at Tufts Dental School till 1982. He was a former member of Meadow Brook Country Club in Reading and a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans organization.

Robert was the Beloved husband of Elizabeth (McCusker) Collins for 65 years. Devoted father of Robert D. Collins, Jr. and his wife Amy of Acton and Karen E. Collins of W. Virginia. Loving grandfather of Brianna and Andrew Collins. Cherished brother of the late Edmund M. Collins and the late Richard H. Collins.

Roberts's funeral will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Wednesday, March 15 at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Agnes Church 186 Woburn St. Reading at 10:30am. Burial is private. Funeral home visiting hours will be Tuesday, March 14, from 4-7pm.
