He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret Mara (Callaghan) and Bernard Mara; his siblings, William Mara, Jane Gable and Jacquiline "Jackie" O'Gara; his son-in-law Gary Snyder; and his grandson Brandon Snyder.
He is survived by: his close friend Sharon Paris; his children, Ellen Snyder of Dalton, Traci Mara of Adams and Bernie Mara (Susan) of Cocoa Beach, Florida; his sister Margaret Mary Harris (Greg) of Arizona; his siblings-in-law, Elena Mara and Clark Gable of Pittsfield; John and Michael Paris. He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Dwyer Family Funeral Home (776 North St, Pittsfield, MA 01201). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Dwyer Funeral Home (776 North St, Pittsfield, MA 01201).
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home.
