It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Gates (Pittsfield, Massachusetts), who passed away on June 14, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her siblings, Willis Groat (Mary), James Groat (Mildred), Clifford Groat, Jack Groat (Julia) and Inez Sciola (Michael) of Pittsfield; and her parents, Willis Groat and Madeline Nardin Groat.
She is survived by: her daughter Debra Sullivan; and her friends, Mary Rennie of Pittsfield and Barbara Decker of Florida. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Dery Funeral Home (54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01201). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
