He was predeceased by: his parents, Joel Eason, Sr. and Beatrice Joyner Eason; his children, Norman and Sandra Yankey (Eason); and his siblings, Helen Ford, Joel "Junior" Eason, Jr. and Corrine Bird.

He is survived by: his significant other Norma Jean Eason (Johnson); and his children, James, Calvin, Mehujael "Dale" Eason and Alexandra Eason. He is also survived by Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
