He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Barnes and Winifred Barnes (Gilpin); and his brother Robert Barnes. He is survived by: his wife Joan M Barnes (Hawkes); his sons, Joseph D. Barnes (Karen) of Ithaca, NY and Brian J. Barnes of Quincy; and his grandsons, Connor, Sean and Brendan Barnes.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Church (386 Hancock St, Quincy, MA 02171). A burial will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
