Murphy of Boston; his wife Dorothy Howlett of Dorchester; his children, Robert Murphy of Quincy, MA, Carol O'Brien of Dorchester, MA, Michael Murphy (Donna) of Hanover, MA, Susan Boudreau (Kevin) of Quincy, MA, Jeffrey Murphy (Leslie) of Sarasota, FL, Gail Crann (Paul) of Westford, MA and James Murphy (Melissa) of Duxbury, MA; his siblings-in-law, Lisa Murphy of Weymouth, MA and James O'Brien of West Hartford, CT; his brother Gerald Murphy of South Carolina; his son Peter Murphy of Scituate, MA; and his siblings, Mary Murphy and John Murphy of Boston, MA.. He was also cherished by nineteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
