It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard E. Monroe of Reading, Massachusetts, who passed away on August 24, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. William Irving Monroe, Jr. and Ruby E. Monroe (Gage); his son Richard E. Monroe, Jr.; and his brother William I. Monroe III. He is survived by: his wife Helen Monroe (Hinman); his daughters, Diana Barney (David) of Buzzards Bay, MA, Beth Gilboy and Anna Monroe of Bow, NH; his grandchildren, Matthew Gilboy (Sarah Mason) of Nashua, NH, John Gasdia III of Buzzards Bay, MA, James-Michael Gilboy of Auburn, ME, Ryan Gilboy of South Paris, ME, Richard Gilboy of South Portland, ME, Liam Gilboy of South Portland, ME and Katie Gilboy of South Portland, ME; his great grandchildren, Weston Gilboy of Nashua, NH, Logan Gilboy of Nashua, NH and Juniper Gasdia of Buzzards Bay, MA.; and his sister-in-law Carol Monroe (Pierce) of Ormond Beach, FL.. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family.
