He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph J. Matara and Frances Matara (DiMare). He is survived by: his former wife Rosa Matara (Sharon Sciarappa) of Salem, NH.; his son Joseph R. Matara (Kelly) of Andover; his grandchildren, Ava and James of Andover; and his sisters, Elizabeth Flynn of Melrose, Cathy McCarron (Robert) of Melrose and Susan Rufo of Wilmington. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 at 8:30 AM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home (306 Main St, Medford, MA 02155). A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Leonard Church (320 Hanover St, Boston, MA 02113).
