He was predeceased by: his daughter Jennifer A. Schmieg. He is survived by: his wife Katherine L. E. Moon; his son Charles W. Schmieg, Jr. (Lauren Hoops-Schmieg); and his grandchildren, Charles G. Schmieg and Madeleine Schmieg.
