He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald Colwell and Freda Colwell. He is survived by: his significant other Joann Zeppetelli; his sister Jill Garfield; and his nephew Todd Garfield. He is also survived by his grand-nephew, grand-niece, and many friends.
