It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joan M. (McGrane) O'Connor of Salem, Massachusetts, who passed away on February 4, 2026, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George McGrane and Frances McGrane (Gabrielski); her husband James Christopher O'Connor; her brother Thomas McGrane; and her brother-in-law Bob Babiarz.
She is survived by: her children, Christopher O'Connor of Salem and Karen O'Connor of Salem; her grandson George LeVasseur (Brooke); her great grandchild Jameson LeVasseur of Danvers; her siblings, Sandra Babiarz, Carol Gillis (Larry) and Gail Markowicz (Joseph); and her sister-in-law Janice McGrane. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Josefa Rivera de Grateraux's Funeral Service (84 Washington Square, Salem, MA 01970). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 10th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, February 10th 2026 from 1:15 PM to 1:45 PM at the Greenlawn Cemetery (195 Nahant Rd, Nahant, MA 01908).
