He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore J. Poitras and Evelyn A. Poitras (Levesque) of Salem; his wife Marilyn Poitras (Lewis); his sister Ann Spencer; and his sibling's children, Timothy Spencer, James, Donald Gallagher, Alan Theriault and Kimberly Carty.

He is survived by: his daughters, Wendy Poitras of Beverly, Bonnie Bertone (David) of Salem and Tammy Walsh (Steven) of Salem; his brother Leo Poitras (Mary Ann Reardon) of South Carolina; his grandchildren, William Muse, Jr., Mathew Muse, Jessica Atwood, Janeen Atwood and Jared Bertone; and his sibling's children, Dyan Iappicca, Lenee, Dana Theriault, Deborah Spencer, Michael, Kevin Lewis, Denise Altman and Patrick Poitras.
