Barbara leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Barbara’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around her. Though she is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support she offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Barbara will carry forward her memory in their hearts.
She was loved and cherished by many people including: husband: Joseph Calista; children: Bethany Cann (Tegan Woods) and David Cann (Farin Anantasya); grandchildren: Luke Castillo Cann, Noel Castillo Cann, and Lily Cosby; former son-in-law: Hugo Castillo Zanatta; parents: Edward P. Sr. and Ethel A. (Richardson) Caffarella; siblings: Edward P. Jr. (Rosemary (Shelly) Caffarella); sisters-in-law: Mary (Cann) Vigasin and Debbie (Cann) Manning (David); former husband: Rev. James A. Cann; nieces and nephews: Christy Zaidi (Whitney), David Vigasin, Jennifer (Vigasin) Bays, James Willis, and the late Melissa Manning; grand nephews: Christian Keeling, Levi Keeling, Andrew (Bays), Kylie (Bays), and Liam (Willis); other: Rev. Ken and Barbara Underhill (chosen family), Richard Shelly (brother of sister-in-law), and her beloved cat Buddy.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 11:30 AM at the Riverside Cemetery (164 Winter St, Saugus, MA 01906). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Belfast United Methodist Church (23 Mill Ln, Belfast, ME 04915). In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Belfast UMC (http://www.belfastumc.com) and Rancho del Rey (http://www.elranchodelrey.org), a home for at-risk boys in Santiago, Mexico, where she visited several times.
