With sadness, we share the passing of George G. McCarthy of Scituate, Massachusetts. George, born on May 17, 1942, passed away on September 25, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Edwina; his parents, Patrick McCarthy and Doris McCarthy; and his siblings, Patrick McCarthy, Jr., Doris Darcy and John McCarthy.
He is survived by: his pet Matthew; his children, Dennis McCarthy (Kim) of Marshfield, Matthew McCarthy (Amanda) of Scituate, Jennifer McCarthy (Sean "Tom) and Quincy; his grandson Coby; and his child Charlie.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home (382 First Parish Rd, Scituate, MA 02066). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary's of the Nativity (1 Kent St, Scituate, MA 02066). A burial will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at the Blue Hill Cemetery (700 West St, Braintree, MA 02184).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's memory to the Scituate Animal Shelter.
