He was predeceased by: his father Julius Hastings; and his wife Gretchen Hastings (Saalbach). He is survived by: his son Curt Hastings (Diane Carpenter) of Bethesda, MD; and his brother Jerome Hastings (Laurie) of Palo Alto, CA.
Harold had a long and productive professional career as an academic, making contributions to diverse areas including topology, neural networks, and fractal geometry.
