He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel and Gilda; and his sibling Cidalia Tavares. He is survived by: his wife Maria Fatima Tavares (Cabral); his children, Carlos Tavares (Maria) of Somerset, Durval Tavares (Debra) of Dighton, Maria Monte (Michael) of Somerset and Alberto Tavares (Anna) of Dartmouth; his grandchildren, Dawn Doraz, Jessica Schimmel, Pamela Tavares, Joshua Tavares, Michael Monte, Megan Monte and Ashlyn Tavares; and his great grandchildren, Connor, Jack, Owen, Cora, Declan, Quinn, Olive and Reina. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
