She is survived by: her sons, Gerald "Jay" Soares and Michael Soares; her grandson Gerald Soares; and her sister Elaine Shaw.

I will miss her inspirational messages. We often talked about this terrible widows club that we were in. I'm glad she is finally with Jerry & that big hole in your heart is filled again. “Your Mom was always more than a friend. I loved her and your Dad like my own parents. Your Mom was such an inspiration to so many young nurses. She set the standard of perfection while showing compassion & empathy toward patients. She was the Best Restorative Nurse I have ever worked with. I still remember how she got 100+ residents up and moving with a line at the door waiting to get in to her Jazzercise classes. The whole building would be rocking. She will be missed. Love, Cherie”
