He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Beverly G. McNamara (Pratt); his parents, John L. McNamara and Mary A. McNamara (Villa); his children, Linda Costa (Paul) of Medford, Mary Neal (Peter) of Andover, Robin Vargas (Carlos) of Woburn and John McNamara (Lisa) of Marshfield; and his siblings, Jeremiah McNamara, Carol Malatesta of Wilmington and Barbara Ellis of Cambridge. He was also cherished by 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Assn.
