He was predeceased by : his parents, John Connolly and Nora Connolly (Flaherty); his wife Jane Connolly (Thorne); and his siblings, Mary McCone, Nora "Aggie" Mantville, Margaret "Dolly" Talbot, Baby John Connolly, Edward Connolly, Michael James Connolly, Joseph Connolly, Thomas Connolly and Patricia "Patsy" Connolly.

He is survived by : his children, Karen Lennon (Sean) of South Weymouth, Mary Connolly of Weymouth, Kevin Connolly (Kelly) of South Weymouth and John Connolly Jr. (Ellen) of South Weymouth; his grandchildren, Christopher (Alyssa), Katelyn, Kerrin (Tom), Paul, Seamus, Brendan, Liam and Billy; and his great grandchildren, Taylor, Savannah, Cullem and Cameron. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 23rd 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Homes (134 Pleasant St, Weymouth, MA 02190). A celebration of life was held on Friday, May 24th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM at the same location. A Mass was held on Friday, May 24th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Saint Francis Xavier Parish (234 Pleasant St, Weymouth, MA 02190).
