He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gillis and Bernadette Gillis; his wife Patricia Rollend; and his siblings, Pete, Bengy, Simone and Alice.

He is survived by: his children, Snod-Grass, Nowski, Fro, Jeff, Chaco Batzi, Robert Gillis, Brian Gillis (Lisa Pepin), Jeffrey Gillis-Davis (Lisa Gillis-Davis) of Webster Groves, MO and Jean Gillis (Adrian Denis) of Uxbridge; his sisters, Addie Hall, Jane "Kit" Large and Marion; and his grandsons, Owen, Alexander, Benjamin and Jack Gillis-Davis. He is also survived by his brothers, brothers-in-law, and father.
