Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Ernestine leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Julius Steinmetz and Katharina Steinmetz (Eckstein); and her husband Gennaro Bortone. She is survived by: her children, Donna Bortone of Springfield and Michael Bortone (Denise) of Hampstead; and her grandchildren, Kara Bortone and Nicholas Bortone.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 17th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center (1858 Allen St, Springfield, MA 01118). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 18th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, November 18th 2025 at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery (421 Tinkham Rd, Springfield, MA 01129).
