With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James F. O'Connell Jr. of Springfield, Massachusetts, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 27, 2025 at the age of 87. He was predeceased by: his parents, James F. O'Connell, Sr. and Viola (Swartz); his son Timothy Michael O'Connell; and his sibling Helyn Ann O'Connell. He is survived by: his wife Helen M. O'Connell (Kozicki); his children, Jacqueline O'Connell of Ludlow, James F. O'Connell, III of Monson and John O'Connell of Ludlow; his grandchildren, Richard O'Connell of Southwick, Daniel O'Connell of Monson and Dr. Briana O'Connell of Somerville; his great grandchildren, Hunter, Sophia and Isabella O'Connell; and his sister Bonnie Namiot (Bob) of Rehoboth. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 6th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, May 7th 2025 at 10:00 AM. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church (25 Parker St, Indian Orchard, MA 01151). The military honors will be held on Wednesday, May 7th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery (1390 Main St, Agawam, MA 01001).
