We are sad to announce that, on June 6, 2023, at the age of 95, Joao Afonso of Springfield, Massachusetts passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel Barroso and Joaquina Afonso; and his wife Maria Afonso (Barroso). He is survived by: his children, Manuel Afonso (Maria Helena) of Indian Orchard, Nuno Afonso of Indian Orchard and Silvia Afonso of Rhode Island; and his grandchildren, Bruno, Vasco, Catarina and Alex. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
