With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Marie V. (Monette) Goodwin René (Springfield, Massachusetts), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 4, 2025 at the age of 98. She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Monette and Helen Monette (Doherty); her former husband Roscoe W. Goodwin; her husband Joseph A. "Al" René; her grandson Gary T. René; and her siblings, Edward P. Monette, Joseph Monette and Dorothy M. Boduch (Stanley).
She is survived by: her sons, Richard D. Goodwin (Karen) of Staffordville, CT, Robert E. Goodwin of Springfield and Christopher A. René (Suzanne) of Springfield; her grandchildren, Richard T. Goodwin (Holly), Rozlynn S. Georgescu (Bogdan) and Rebecca A. René Tapia (Salvador); and her great grandchildren, Emily R., Matthew B. Goodwin, Amanda L., Nicholas B. Georgescu, Alexander J. Tapia and Jessica D. René. She is also survived by great great grandchildren; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Sacred Heart Church (395 Chestnut St, Springfield, MA 01104).
In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Lighthouse Clubhouse, 1401 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109.
