He was predeceased by: his parents, Irving Shainheit and Gertrude Shainheit (Bernson). He is survived by: his wife Margaret "Diane" Shainheit; his sons, David Shainheit of West Springfield and Gary Shainheit (Dawn) of Kansas; his stepchildren, Tammy Cato, Teresa Cato-Carrasquillo, Roy Cato (Linette) and Mark Cato (Mary); his brother Howard Shainheit (Janet) of Worcester; his cousins, Laura Katz and Steven Shainheit; his grandchildren, Diana, William (Tara), Vanessa, Jason, Joseph, Cimone, Ashley, Lauren, Leah, Michael and Meaghan; his pet Bandit; and his friend Joe Boxer. He is also survived by many friends and caregivers.
