He is survived by: his wife Sallie Nichols (Williams) of New York City; his children, William Buchanan of Springfield, Terrence, Heinz of London, Debbie Owens of Springfield, Karen Griffin of North Carolina, Retha Pam of Springfield and Pamela Jordan of Texas; his goddaughter Chaunda Harris of Springfield; and his brother Alexander Nichols of Springfield. He is also survived by grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Billy was a visionary artist whose contributions to the music industry spanned decades and touched countless lives.
