He was predeceased by : his wife Freda G. Ballard (Gregory); his brothers, Arthur Ballard, Alfred Ballard and Lucien Ballard; and his parents, Edward Ballard and Marguerite Ballard (Savaria).

He is survived by : his nieces, Patricia A. Ballard (Gabriel Acevedo) of Sturbridge, Louise M. Schweinler of Sylva, NC and Rachel T. Barendregt (Ron) of Plumpton, NSW; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Sergio Acevedo, Sara Barendregt, Amanda Barendregt, Tori Barendregt, Travis Barendregt, Logan Barendregt, Georgie Schweinler and Stormy Schweinler; his close friend Gus Staffieri; and his stepdaughter Carolyn Croteau.
