He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara C. Matys (Cudworth); his daughter Margaret Matys of Southbridge; his sisters, Bertha Lyle and Shirley Molt; and his parents, William Matys Sr. and Margaret Matys (Bastek).
He is survived by: his children, Steve Matys (Julie) of Fort Myers, FL, David Matys (Sharon) of Grafton, Sarah Skvir (John) of Westwood, Andrew Matys (Anita) of Switzerland and Martin Matys (Joan) of Shrewsbury; his sisters, Helen DeWitt of Dudley and Connie Theodoss of Southbridge; his grandchildren, Christian, Jenna, Benjamin, Emily, Nicholas, Tobias, Anouk, Jacob and Jamie; and his great grandchildren, Addison, Ellie, Samuel, Sol and Morgan.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home (130 Hamilton St, Southbridge, MA 01550). A funeral Mass was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Anne's Church (16 Church St, Sturbridge, MA 01518). A burial was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 at the Oak Ridge Cemetery (16 Oak Ridge Ave, Southbridge, MA 01550).
