He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Maria Mendonça and Manuel Mendonça; his wife Maria Hirondina Mendonça; his children, Zelia (Americo Achadinha), Dina Moreira (Eduardo Almeida), Ana Oliveira, José Manuel (Sabrina Mendonça) and Paulo (Sandy Mendonça); his grandchildren, Sergio, Henrique, Rodrigo, David, Shawn, Makayla, Savannah, Jared, Erica, Artur, Lucas, Daniela and Matthew; his great grandchildren, Sebastian, Hailey and David; his siblings, Rosarinha Pimentel, Leonilda Mendonca, Antonio Mendonca, Genoveva Serôdio, João Mendonca, Conceição Marques, Odilia Reis and Judite Simas; and his son-in-law Paul Oliveira.
