Richard A. Sykes Obituary

Richard A. Sykes, peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at the age of 65. He was born in Taunton son of the late Alfred and Emma (Colrick) Sykes. He was educated in Taunton Schools and was a 1965 graduate of Taunton High School. He retired after 37 years of service from the Taunton State Hospital where he was a campus Police Officer II.

It was there that Richard met and leaves behind so many wonderful life long friends. After he retired from Olson's Florist and from the Mass. Dept of Travel and Tourism. Richard is survived by the love of his life, Sheila and their children, Christine (Sykes) and her husband Paul, Hollie (Rasar) Sullivan and her husband Sean, Eddy Rasar and his fiancé Sarah Hackett.

Simply known to the joys of his life as "Ree Ree" or Grand Paw, Richard leaves his seven grandchildren Kayla, Zoe, Alexandra, Chio, Ava, John and Anasofia. Richard is the brother of Janis Avila and husband Richard and Jean Dumont and husband Dale. He is the nephew of Edward Fraga and the late Sheila Fraga. Uncle to many special nieces and nephews.

He is the brother in law of Mary Lou Moynihan and the late Michael Moynihan, Brain Moynihan and wife Eileen.
