She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Richard Staelens and Constance Hawkins (Bourn); her daughters, Jennifer Thornton of Deerfield and Angie Hutkoski (Wayne) of Whately; her brother David Staelens (Nancy) of Gill; her fiancé Hugh "Bert" O'Brien (Richard Thornton) of Turners Falls; and her son Richard "Ricky" Thornton. She was also cherished by many grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
