He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Thurston and Mary G. Thurston (Wallace); his wife Anna Mildred "Millie" Thurston (Nee); and his siblings, Sally McSwain, Anne Miller, Lillian Butters, Grace Casello, Georgia Mosnicka, Carol Baduski and Sydney Thurston.
He is survived by: his children, Jane L. Thurston of Waltham and Gary A. Thurston of Waltham; his grandchild Carmen C. Thurston of Arizona; and his child Devon A. Thurston of England. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
