He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Linda Gulla (Fuqua); his daughters, Jessica McCubbin (Wesley) and Becky Sampson; his stepchildren, Jennifer Marlene (Matthew Smith) and Scott Arispe (Jaime); his grandchildren, Shelby, Kendall, Avree McCubbin, Rylee, Cameron Sampson, Luke, Chase Anderson, Tyler and Cole Arispe; and his siblings, Cathy Hartford (Richard), Joann Coppi (Paul), Lorraine Brutti (Robert), Theresa Chamness and Chuck Gulla (Sharon). He was also cherished by many loving nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jay's honor to a cause he cared deeply about: DAV (Disabled American Veterans).
