He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Sanders and Udora Sanders (Gagnon); and his siblings, Raymond, Judy, Joseph, David, Tina Sanders and Sandra Rose (Sanders).

He is survived by: his wife Stephanie T. Sanders (Shaw); his children, Tonya L. Sanders (Debbie Grace) of Troy and Thomas A. Sanders, Jr. (Katrina Brammer) of Troy; his grandchildren, Kyle Brammer (Caitlyn Stuto), Kaylee Brammer and Christopher Sanders; his great grandchild Kyler Brammer; and his sisters, Gloria Robbins (Charles "Buzz") of Idaho and Rosemary Parker of North Carolina. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
