We announce the death of Jose Freitas of Wareham, Massachusetts, who passed away on October 26, 2026, at the age of 80. Jose will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his siblings, Filomena Luz, Gabriela Chaves, Lizette Keaney and Bobby Keaney. He is survived by: his wife Maria Chaves of Wareham; his children, Sergio Freitas, Nelson Freitas, Elda Freitas and Manuel Freitas; his daughters-in-law, Christina and Meghan; his grandchildren, Samantha St. Pierre, Yago Freitas, Mia Freitas, Maeley Freitas and Aryanna Freitas; and his siblings, Fatima F. Cabral (late Antonio Cabral), Antonio Luz (Maria Luz), Isidro Luz (Cidalia Luz), Irondina Chaves (Luis Chaves), Miguel Braga (Natalia Braga) of Santa Maria, Antonio Braga (Beatriz Braga), Ana Ponte (Jorge Ponte), Arsenio Braga and Luis Braga. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Wareham Village Funeral Home (5 Center St, Wareham, MA 02571). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 at 10:15 AM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Saint Patricks Church (94 High St, Wareham, MA 02571). A committal service will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Saint Patrick's Cemetery (7 Tihonet Rd, Wareham, MA 02571).
