He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Jacquelyn (Roper); his children, Jacquelyn Denise Sawyer (Denise) of Woodstock, CT and Stephen Lee Sawyer (Shari) of Rocky Point, NC; his grandchildren, Jesse Sawyer (Eileen), Joseph Sawyer (Anna) and Oliver Lucas; his grandson-in-law Bryant; his grandchildren, John L. Ortiz Sawyer (Aimee), Dylan Sawyer, Mariah Sawyer and Meagan Sawyer; his sisters, Millicent Ann Owens (Marshall) of Elizabeth City, NC and Mary Evelyn Hopkins (Norman); his son John Alfred Sawyer III; his brother Dennis Robert Sawyer (Carolyn); and his parents, John A. Sawyer, Sr. and Evelyn Sawyer (Skiles). He was also cherished by several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
