She was predeceased by: her father Jason Starr. She is survived by: her husband Peter Kotzen; her children, Jeff (Elyssa), Julie and Alison (Andrew); her grandchildren, Skylar, Sydney, Blake and Romy; her mother Elizabeth "Betty" Starr; her brothers, Alan Starr (Laurie) and Jack Starr (Rhonda); and her friend Holly Kastan. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Karen may be made to the Mike Toth Head and Neck Cancer Research Center at Mass Eye and Ear in recognition of the extraordinary care provided by Dr. Kevin Emerick, Dr. David Miller, and Dr. Michael Rho.
