He was predeceased by : his parents, Albert Scaplen and Catherine Scaplen Sr. (Carey); and his siblings-in-law, Patricia Scaplen, Michael, Raymond, Donald and Joseph Jelley.

He is survived by : his children, Susan (Scott Stelmack) of Pelham, NH, Michael (Lena Scaplen) of Boylston, MA and Kevin (Laura Scaplen) of Westford, MA; his brothers, Jack Scaplen of Chelmsford, MA and William (Laurie Scaplen); and his grandchildren, Jennifer, Kristin, Matthew, Thomas, Kyle, Jessica, Kaileigh, Nikita and Alex. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
