He was predeceased by: his daughter Brenda Almeida; his son-in-law Greg Borges; and his parents, John Rego and Mary Rego. He is survived by: his wife Lorraine; his children, Joseph C Rego Jr. (Dovalina) and Tammy Borges; his grandchildren, Evan Almeida (Sarah) and Krystal Donovan (Daniel); his siblings, John C Rego, Antone "Tony" Rego and Eleanor Cabral; his great grandchildren, Ailey, Reese, Jack and Harrison; and his pet Bailey.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph's memory to the Westport Food Pantry .
